A resource for people experiencing pain

Summary: Pain scientists are making exciting new discoveries about what causes pain and how to successfully treat it. A new online resource teaches an evidence-based understanding of pain and guides patients to make well-informed decisions about their treatment and recovery.

Last weekend, our RMTs attended Dr. Lorimer Moseley’s workshop Understanding pain: From biology to clinical care. In it, he shared his online resource tamethebeast.org which answers questions like:

  • How can I train my pain system to be less protective?
  • How do I know if I’m safe to move?
  • How do I know if my health professional understands modern pain science?
  • Will I re-injure myself?
  • Will I get better?
  • How can I speed up my recovery?

Want to learn more? Visit tamethebeast.org to watch a short animated video that depicts pain as beasts that can be tamed. You can also peruse a list of resources to help you understand pain, and listen to real stories from people who have recovered from pain. This information provides a path forward and affirms that it’s possible to tame the beast of persistent pain.
